Navigating the Covid Maze July-August-September 2021

 Last Leg Smoky Bay-Coffin Bay-Home

Where has the time gone? We both don't want this trip to finish and under different circumstances we would keep driving, but as the old saying goes, 'all good things come to an end'.

We still have some new experiences ahead having never been to Smoky Bay nor driven the coast road to Coffin bay. We have stayed at Coffin Bay in the past and love it, so thought it perfect to finish off the trip.

Following this blog will be a final one dedicated to the 'flora and fauna' encountered along the way, which should provide a very colourful experience. Until then we are heading home!

On the road to Coffin Bay

Overlooking the Bay

A favourite spot is a little village called Mt Dutton Bay, 20 K's west. It comprises a number of shacks, a jetty and a cafe museum and gallery housed in a converted Woolshed which also provides accommodation and caravan/camping facilities. It is a great little hideaway by the sea and we plan to set up camp there for a few days sometime relatively soon.

A somewhat contemplative demeanour!

We were due to depart for home after our 3 night stay on Sunday September 5 but we decided to extend for a further 2 nights because we liked it so much and because we could. Ngaire's leave finished on the Friday and I was on leave until my retirement date which happened to be the day we arrived home, Tuesday September 7.
We turned 'right' here at Port Augusta West on Sunday July 18 and have come full circle 13,000+Km's later.
Heading towards Horrocks Pass on Horrocks Pass Road on the way to Wilmington in the Southern Flinders Ranges. From Wilmington we head south east to Clare then home.

I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Ngaire for her help and support over this journey. It would not have been worth it without her.
Also a big acknowledgement  for all the photos taken on her phone camera from the car for those shots capturing scenery, road signs and place names as well as photos of yours truly, that give a travel blog continuity. Great team work.

UNTIL NEXT TIME
